Gravel & Grape MTB

Take part in a challenging yet rewarding mountain bike race through family-owned vineyards and on trails that will test your mountain biking ability.
May in the Breedekloof Wine Valley is an ideal
time of year for outdoor pursuits and the Gravel & Grape MTB is the perfect chance to explore the region.
Our event distances are suitable for all levels of riders. Enjoy a morning on the trails and an afternoon sipping some of the region’s finest wines.

45km MTB – 1050m Ascent

(Please note that the actual distance is 45,9km)

The route starts off relatively flat for 14km, through vineyards and jeep track. The first significant climb is around 16km inn, with a spectacular long single track following.
The next section is filled with a variety of vineyard, jeep track short single-track sections. The last big climb is close to the finish, heading into Slanghoek Wine Cellar will signal the last few 100m.
The race is not long in distance, but do not under estimate the amount of ascent.

30km MTB – 670m Ascent

(Please note that the actual distance is 27,7km)

The route follows the same path as the 45km, but keeps on the tar section, heading into Slanghoek Valley. The first half of the race is relatively flat, with the climbing in the latter half of the race.
Riders are rewarded with two sections of single track, with both demanding technical skills. Novices will find it challenging.
One big climb awaits riders a few km’s from the finish, this is along a paved road, leading into a nice single-track section.

14km MTB – 186 m Ascent

It is a relatively flat race, with little climbing, and no one significant climb. The surface is a combination of Vineyard roads that might be sandy and rocky in some sections.
Small kids on kids bikes might find it unpleasant.
